Loudoun FCA Leadership Board

A Fellowship of Christian Athletes Leadership Board is a volunteer group of leaders in a community or region who love Jesus Christ, care about coaches and athletes, and recognize the incredible platform that athletics provides to impact their area for Jesus Christ. They willingly invest their time, influence, effort, expertise, and finances to see that happen and encourage others to join in the effort.

Board Chair

Craig Chapman, Board Chairman, brings a strong commitment to FCA’s principles of faith, commitment, and service, along with his lifelong athletic background, to the Loudoun FCA chapter. As a seasoned business strategist with deep ties to Loudoun’s technology community, Craig offers valuable leadership insights and a passion for developing student-athletes into future community leaders. A Board member for six years, he looks forward to advancing the mission to “Win the County for Christ” under Director Cliff Russell’s leadership in the 2026 season.

Craig is an alumnus of Randolph-Macon College and Virginia Commonwealth University. After moving to Northern Virginia, he quickly built relationships with national technology firms in IT, healthcare, and government. Married to Lauren Filar since 1998, the couple settled in Loudoun during its rise as a technology hub. Their sons, Jason and Eric, both competed as athletes at Riverside High School in Leesburg. Lauren’s strong Catholic upbringing has been a guiding influence in Craig’s commitment to supporting FCA, as has his sons’ commitment to community service both inside and outside Loudoun.

Board Member

Mike Thompson, Board Member, brings more than 40 years of business leadership experience, a lifelong commitment to athletics, and a passion for developing young people to the Loudoun FCA Board. Throughout his career, Mike has held leadership positions with several Fortune 500 companies and served as CEO of businesses ranging from $60 million to $600 million in revenue. Those experiences reinforced his belief that strong organizations and successful teams share common foundations: trust, integrity, discipline, and commitment to something greater than oneself.

A former Division I football player and third-degree black belt in Tae Kwon Do, Mike has experienced firsthand the important role coaches and athletics can play in shaping a young person’s character and direction in life. That experience is central to his commitment to FCA and the principle of Proverbs 27:17: “As iron sharpens iron, so one person sharpens another.” He believes FCA provides a unique opportunity for coaches, mentors, and teammates to positively influence young people while helping them develop a lifelong relationship with Christ.

Mike has been married to his wife, Hallie, for more than 35 years, and together they have three grown children and four grandchildren. Guided by Luke 12:48 — “From everyone who has been given much, much will be demanded” — Mike views his service with FCA as an opportunity to give back, invest in the next generation, and help advance the mission to “Win the County for Christ.”
